Fight Like Apes - Something Global
Taken from the bands debut studio album ‘Fight Like Apes and the Mystery of the Golden Medallion’ this new single is not one of my favourite tunes at the minute, however seems to hold a lot of potential and grows on you.
‘Something Global’ is a synth fused rock number, one that has all the goodness of punchy guitar rock, elevated rhythms that persuade you to get moving, even if your mind is telling you not to. Between the combination of the upbeat music and Mary-Kate’s yearning vocals, the song has a way of getting you to come around to its way of thinking. Credit must go out to Mary-Kate as she has been able to do what she does best and give some great vocals while not following in the line of many female vocalists before her and taken to either screaming the lyrics to the point that you want to cover your ears in pain or be so subtle that you lose all interest.
This is a job well done for Fight Like Apes, as ‘Something Global’ will be a hit with whoever hears it.
