David Cronenberg's Wife - The Fight Song EP
Having seen the name ‘David Cronenberg’s Wife’ frequently on the London gig scene gaining a lot of popularity I was looking forward to finally hearing what the fuss was about. Maybe the expectations were too high, maybe this is a band that needs to be listened live, for this four track EP feels like a wet blanket on a cold day.
The self titled opening song is a real mish mash, the spoken vocals are extremely clever but the song just fails to produce, despite its promising sinister opening.
On second track ‘Suicide Stretch Out‘ Tom Mayne’s vocals are delivered in the same style as John Lydon but sadly the tune does not match up. At least you can hear the London Underground in the background, which says a lot if that is the only positive. Less said of the final two tracks ‘I Do Know’ and ‘I Couldn’t Get Off’ the better.
