Promising debut
Glasgow 6 piece, Flood of Red’s debut single is a solid piece of anthemic rock. ‘ A Place before The End’ is slightly melancholic but catchy, with some smooth but forgiving production from Brian McTernan and great vocals from Jordan Speirs, his accent letting you know immediately where this band hail from. This is the more upbeat of the two tracks, (despite the melancholic edge),and will have you humming along in seconds.
‘Time Is All We Have Left’ has a really strong emotional core; it’s a dreamy, swirling tune with a harder hitting chorus. The best thing about these two tracks is that even though they are straightforward heavy melodic rock, and even though you can guess at the band’s influences they manage not to be generic or obvious and have a fresh energising sound. Two very strong tracks from a band to watch.
