Good simple fun!
'Yoyoyoyoyoyoyo EP' is the latest offering from Cardiff-based punk band Kutosis. Made up of vocalist and guitarist Ian, bassist Jim and Ben on drums, the band’s light-hearted music screams fun, reviving the madness of the 80’s punk/new-wave genre.
The EP starts as it means to go on with the raw, high energy track ‘You Told Me Devro Decides’ followed by jumping ‘Joseph’, which showcases Ian’s vocal ability excellently. Finally, the playfully catchy track ‘Treehouse’ draws the CD to a close.
There isn’t anything groundbreaking about this EP, but that doesn’t in any way detract from the quality or desirability of the tracks. The vocalist’s unique voice suits the punk genre perfectly without sounding clichéd, whilst the instrumentals are simple but effective, there isn’t anything here to dislike! Kutosis’ feel-good tunes will stick in your head long after you’ve finished listening.
Kutosis are set to rock the BBC Introducing stage at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals; this is definitely a band to keep an eye on.
