Siempre y para Siempre

Serotonin are an Oxfordshire based trio and 'Siempre y para Siempre' is their first Crash records release. We are lead to believe that they are a progressive rock band but it would be fairer to say that they fit into that most unwanted of a genre tags: post-grunge. Lead track ‘Apologies to You’ demonstrates singer Jay’s grungy vocals and way with a chorus however, the music is rather perfunctory. ‘Death From Above’ is more impressive, taking a harder edged approach with some nice guitar licks and double tracked vocals. Maybe this should have been the opener. 'Siempre y para Siempre' is rounded off with ‘Before Tomorrow’ a slower paced tune with a nice arpeggio guitar figure but it is haunted by the spectre of deeply unfashionable bands like Creed and Cold. A solid start then from a new band with undoubted chops that, at this point, wears its influences a little too openly.
