Scrim - Definitely the Red Wine

Scrim is four lads from Sheffield that have been bustling around since 2004 to create energetic rock tunes about life, people and experiences that they have been through.

With their newest release ‘Definitely the Red Wine’, more often than not the songs are complemented with sharp guitar led solos with classic rock vibes. This can usually be quite vibrant and very flattering to a song. With these tracks however the sharpness of the guitar solos are very overpowering and to be honest, ruin the ambiance of some songs. The only track, for which this action is supported, is ‘Fake’ which creates a steady closure.

The remaining tracks are all very effervescent. Some particular ones that stand out include ‘Talking in Code’ which adds a sense of mystery and seduction to the mix, ‘Redrum’ is more emotive and gentle while having a tougher chorus and ‘Old School’ which has some inner intensities and begs to be shouted at the top of your lungs. ‘My Revolution’ is a song that catches the attention of a listener, on the other end of the scale is probably the most unattractive song ‘Supersize’, only due to the fact there is very little differentiation in music, just a repetitive drum roll and guitar rhythms. However this is still a moderate tune. Within each of the tracks, the vocals are very strong and sometimes a bit rugged, which is always a bonus.

Scrim has an impressive release on their hands with ‘Definitely the Red Wine’.
