Canterbury - Thank You
Canterbury has been in the music scene for a while now having recently wrapped up touring extensively with Billy Talent and Hundred Reasons as well as heading out on a headline tour of their own. Through much hard word and dedicated studio time they have finally managed to put some material to CD and better yet, they are giving it away free!
"Thank You" opens explosively with the loud guitars and crashing drums of ‘Peace and Quiet’; the vocals penetrate your heart with their united effect. Then there is the fast moving ‘Ambulance’, there are minimal lyrics in ‘Got to Believe’ but it is a short, loud and very vigorous burst of energy while ‘Hometime’ opens piano based but gains a very authoritative and skilled nature. ‘Diver’ differs from the other tracks as it has verses that are fairly calm while the choruses kick up with bright tones. Canterbury is able to take on the softer songs as well as the tougher numbers. ‘Hospital’ is a gentle sounding track, with Luke’s vocals standing strong and centre and the harmonies on top form.
For all the Canterbury fans the four tracks that had you initially falling for the band are on here alongside the new tunes. ‘Take Me Out Of The Wall’ is a song you will instantly fall for with its mysterious manor where both lead vocalists give it their all; with Mike hitting all the high notes. ‘Set You Right’ is a more rugged track but pulls you in with its charm. This is one of many songs you just want to scream along to at the choruses, as they are so ear catching and lovable. ‘Friends? We're More like a Gang’ takes on a darker atmosphere and has some of the most powerful harmonies you will hear. Lastly you can’t forget the amazing recent single ‘Eleven Twelve’.
"Thank You" is one of those albums you can indulge yourself with time and time again, never having to skip a song as each is as passionate, enjoyable and breathtaking as the rest. Canterbury is not just a band that sounds incredible on CD, as their performances are even more breathtaking.
