Fall Be Kind

Like stepping out into the jungle, it becomes easy to get lost in the opening track ‘Graze’, with its beguiling concoction of drones and trippy, drifting vocals. A trancelike piano line intervenes to bring some actuality until concluding with carnival-esque percussion and mantras. ’What Would I Want? Sky’ displays an increased adventure with an intriguing use of the first licensed Grateful Dead sample to convey some familiarity to improvised verses.

The EP then takes a turn for the dark with ’Bleed’ that could easily soundtrack the terror-inducing corridor scenes for "Halloween" with echoing vocals and disparate murmurs. If ’Bleed’ was intended for corridors then ’On A Highway’ was made for the empty road as few tracks carry such desolation from whispered vocals and looped rhythms. Closing track ’I Think I Can’ fully showcases the band’s likeness to The Earlies and a penchant for collecting diverse and interesting noises then putting them into the melting pot and seeing what comes out. In this case; tribal drums, birdsong and a strange sense of claustrophobia to wrap up one of the most beguiling EPs you are likely to, not just hear, but experience.
