Clean, energetic slice of pop-punk. Emphasis on the pop.

Pop-punk heroes You Me At Six belong to a category of bands, like tourmates Paramore, who present a single Kerrang! friendly sound and energetic performance but have yet to prove their staying power in the industry. A solidly teenage fan-base is a notoriously fickle thing.

This is an inoffensive, unoriginal but quite attractive slice of ‘alternative pop’ that should keep the momentum of second album ‘Hold Me Down’ going nicely. It’s the ultimate example of living in the moment - an enjoyable, slightly familiar sounding single with catchy riffs and pitch-perfect vocals, but not something you’d buy when you can catch it occasionally on the radio.

The baffling inclusion of an instrumental version on the B-side is an indication that either they’re lacking in material, or they know their market so well that they’ve provided a backing track for kids to mime in front of the mirror to. Perhaps they’re thinking of the channel 4 drama series that will inevitably use the track to appeal to indie kids. A novel idea and a fun song, but are they really strong enough to appeal by their musical skill alone?
