Rock goddesses
Former R13 Band Of The Month follow up their highly successful debut album ‘How Did It Get To This’ with a double A side single ‘Welcome To My World’ and ‘Feeling Lonely Now’. Having finished 2009 being shortlisted on XFM’s New Music Award for a combination of their debut album and ability to blow the audience away with their live shows, the duo that makes up We Rock Like Girls Don’t enlisted the help of the legendary John Goodmanson to help capture the raw energy of their live shows on these songs and what a great job the three of them have done.
Both tracks are different in style but yet both capture a grunge feel that just goes for the jugular. ‘Welcome To My World’ is angst ridden; the guitar has a sinister feel to it while combining with the drums to create a full on kick ass rock track. ‘Feeling Lonely Now’ starts off with dreamy vocals for a minute before letting rip with more rock goodness. Both tracks are a break from the norm of the usual mass produced music, intelligent in both music and lyrics and above all, have that perfect polished feel which combines the studio sound with the live feel of a smokey bar.
If you are going to play as a duo you need to be bloody good or you will get found out very quickly, thankfully both Glaswegian Ros Cairney on guitar and vocals along with Londoner Vas Antoniadou on drums certainly rock like girls allegedly don’t.
