Quite an accomplishment!

When we caught up with Zach Webb recently, lead vocalist for Florida based four-piece It’s Alive, he was more than excited to discuss the bands upcoming album ‘Human Resources’. With its release on the horizon, we have managed get a glimpse into what it holds in store and we are just as excited!

Powerful and meaningful music is the aim and without a doubt you will be left feeling exhilarated. There is nothing more satisfying than listening to a record and getting tingles, feeling the music as well as just sitting back and listening to it. That is what these songs intend to do as each adds a little more to the atmosphere being created. The enthusiasm, passion and “conviction” according to Zach are the secrets of turning a good melody into a memorable song and the album is jammed with them. As music is played and lyrics belted out, you can almost feel the words being spoken to you personally. Musically these are some of the most enlivening songs you would have heard in 2010 so far. The majority stand on an alternative platform of strong guitars and crashing drums, but then some have additions of piano (‘Back Into The Rain’) and strings (‘Selfish’). None are repetitive but all exciting and innovative.

When it comes to inspirations for the songs, each is completely based on personal experiences rolled into lyrics and wrapped up in music. Whether it's relationships, family or friends, anything and everything these guy’s experience can be put to paper. In our interview Zach explained the two most personal songs as ‘Questions’ and ‘Selfless’. The first about “being cheated on and all the raw emotion you experience from the visuals that cross your mind” while the latter, the only love song on the record, is about “unconditional love”. Both are lyrically descriptive and honest, anger vs. love, two very different feelings, with two very different sounds yet both just as emotional. There are so many dimensions to all the songs that you will be overwhelmed!

There is no need for the skip butting on this record, just the one to rewind back to the start and listen to the tracks all over again. It’s Alive is a name not to be forgotten as in the coming year, they are going to be the name on everyone’s lips, beginning with ours.
