New single from happy psyche chaps
This is 13th Floor Elevators, this is Love, this is a wonderfully whimsical slice of psyche. 'Dear Author' is a wonderful pop moment delivered in 2 minutes and 53 seconds and is presumably what Noel Gallagher was trying to do on that last Oasis record. Darker My Love channel the psychedelic history of their hometown San Francisco with the echoing guitar and driving tempo of 'Dear Author'. Drums crash against choral backing vocals and the electric, and I mean electric, guitar of Jared Everett takes its moment to shine. Tim Presley's nonchalant vocals tell us the story of one fan's relationship with his favourite writer 'I've read your books many times/ You could say I'm a fan'...'Where do you go when I place you on the shelf?'. Who is this author, where does he go? Can you go too? That's left to your interpretation. For me, this wry, quizzical tune plastered a satisfying grin on my face and left a definite need to hear more.
