Bluesy rock with a bad attitude
With a roar of guitars singer Shabby asks "Are you ready for this?" before kicking into a vibey 3 minutes or so of bad arse bluesy rhythms with an added angry rock kick in Voodoo Hussy's debut single, 'Say You Love Me'.
Clear vocals lead a story that drips with mistrust and hidden pain, the chorus of "you say you love me but I know better" capturing the tone of the song. Angsty driving guitars and choppy verses are balanced by smooth melodies and harmonised vocals in the chorus; along with a kick butt guitar solo mid way through, this song is filled to the brim with attitude. "Say You Love Me" delivers feelings of righteous anger while remaining upbeat and making you want to get up and move.
Voodoo Hussy have crafted a song that connects with your buried emotions; it just begs to be experienced live, where you can let those emotions out and scream at the top of your lungs while you feed off the energy of the music, the band and others around you.
The single ends with a smooth muted outro that gives you a moment to catch your breath, before kicking straight back in to the radio friendly version.
Voodoo Hussy have created a song that I can't fault - and that just makes me excited and anxious to hear more!
"Say You Love Me" is released November 29, 2010.
