Placebo's Steve Hewitt's new electro-rock outfit

Decent songs end too soon. It's a shame that 'Home' – at roughly 3:20 – feels like it goes on for far, far longer than it does. Led by Steve Hewitt, former drummer with Placebo, Love Amongst Ruin specialise in brooding heavy dance-rock. Much like Placebo, coincidentally. But far more like Depeche Mode, with their repetitive waves of guitar and dark melancholy lyrics.

Snappy production, great musicianship, and a feel for the dark corners of rock clubs where this would go down a storm lend much to the appeal. But you just wouldn't go out and buy it as a single. Unless perhaps you own a rock club and want to put it on repeat at about 1am.

Sexy and sultry for those with a penchant for 80s alternative electro-rock, derivative and repetitive for those who don't. Best pick up the album.
