Belladonna – Let There Be Light

The collaboration between Italian noir rock band Belladonna and composer Michael Nyman has resulted in the release of the single 'Let There Be Light'. Based on his 'The Heart Asks Pleasure First' from the Oscar winning movie "The Piano", Nyman himself plays piano on the song.

The repetitive, classical sounding piano coupled with the often sad and tortured sounding vocals give an uneasy feel to the song's introduction. The dark and haunting chorus is both emotional and infectious. The chorus being louder and with a heavier rhythm still cannot drown out the playing of Nyman. Lead vocalist Luana Caraffa certainly knows how to paint the moment with her uncanny ability to add so much emotion to the overall mysterious mood of the song. It's passionate and hypnotic without becoming over indulgent; the omnipresent piano driving home the message of injustices perpetrated by the Tyrants such as Hitler and Bin Laden (who are both named in the lyrics).
