Wayter: 'Twenty'

Wayter have a clear philosophy when it comes to producing music. Why just churn out a song when you can get a bit creative with the very concept of it? The strikingly confident experimental approach apparent in latest track 'Twenty' suggests they're following in the footsteps of your Fugazi types- yeah, those underground mavericks. To listen to the way Wayter have found their way of doing things sort of brings to mind the unique run-up approach Happy Gilmore develops for hitting golf balls. It may defy convention, but gets some pretty dazzling results.

Despite being relatively slow in tempo, 'Twenty' doesn't lack in strength. It's bold and it's loud, yet it's also got a measured sense of reserve about it. Off beat drum spills and atmospheric guitar have a blend of psychedelia and grunge in their sound, not too unlike Smashing Pumpkins. However, there is definitely something new here. There is a distinct impression that Wayter have picked apart the conventions of structure and timing to create something very unique. You may wonder how this works. We've been wondering too, and we're not entirely sure. It just does. Give 'Twenty' a listen. We can assure you that you will definitely hear something very new.
