Ambershift - Russian Doll
With their single 'Russian Doll', Ambershift show they've found exactly the right combination to create a solid, intense sound in an infectious pop-rock song.
Released on their own label, Elvet Bridge Recordings, it's a mix of strong britpop/indie style beats and melodic rock sensibilities. The quartet open 'Russian Dolls' with a subtle rumbling bassline before bringing in a blend of hooky riffs, staccato like guitars and strong rhythms; overlaying the lot with some super smooth melodic vocals. It's a song that sits neatly in the gap between heavy indie and light melodic rock and as such, will appeal to lovers of both genres.
'Russian Dolls', taken from their self titled debut album, is accompanied by b-side 'As We Fall'. Again, a song that lives between the indie and melodic rock genres, it is a lighter track but one that is still filled with their trademark depth and melody.
Both songs evoke memories of bands such as The Police and Franz Ferdinand; and yet remain fresh as Ambershift bring their own style and creativity to the genre.
It's clear Ambershift have found their niche and can showcase their talent with appealing music that will engage and entertain you.
