Melodic Rock

Croyden band Bad Sign open their new EP "Exit" with 'Unknown' a track filled with muted vocals and hooky guitars. Using the beat as a strong focal point they keep the song soft through the verses and drive the intensity in the chorus before finishing with a slew of distorted guitars. 'Unkonwn' is a stong opener that leaves you both satisfied and pumped up for the rest of the EP. They continue to use the bass beats to focus the song in 'Existence', and indeed this is a staple throughout the EP.

Mid point tack 'Eclipse' offers a strong full sound with layered melodies, it's chorus of "Down by the river down down by the river" drawing you in while the song weaves it's way through, invoking feelings of sadness and pain as it goes. It's a darker, dirtier track and at 5:10 the longest on the EP.

They cite Biffy Clyro as one of their main influences and with 'Inertia' you can clearly hear it, with a return to a soft verse/intense chorus combination. Closing track 'Exit' is fast paced, upping the energy for a climactic finish.

Bad Sign have crafted not just 5 impressive tracks, but also a well balanced EP. The songs complimenting each other and taking you through a wave of emotion. Their sound is one that fits nicely with the slew of melodic bands starting to rise, such as Starseed and Morning Lane, and yet Bad Sign have found their way to be unique.

This is melodic rock at it's best. Epic soaring melodies, strong supporting beats and smooth as silk vocals. It's an EP to lose yourself in.
