Strong female fronted pop/punk/grunge/rock

Avenge Vulture Attack are one of those bands that you need to listen to a few times before you appreciate just how good they are. With their latest EP "Renew", they give us four tracks of radio ready, female fronted rock/punk enjoyment. It's poppy with a twist, indie with aggression, rock with minor melodies plus a load of hidden depth.

Opening track 'Seven Dirty Bad Things' is the most distinct and diverse with dark undertones, soft winding verses and in your face choruses. Title track 'Renew' shows off front woman Ella Grace's voice with its twists and turns, subtlety and pure power. 'You Are Nothing' just drips with anger and pain and closing track 'All About You' blends soft melodies with huge sing along choruses.

The London quartet have a sound that you almost feel you've heard before, and the first band that springs to mind as a comparison is the obvious female fronted Paramore. It's in that certain timbre of Grace's voice, the dynamics in the guitars and the mid tempo beat that categorises most songs. But Avenged Vulture Attack have a core of strength and a depth to their sound that makes them much stronger than the Americans. Grace's voice is a little bit pop, a little but grunge, a little bit hard rock and contains a depth that is much more comparable to singers like Kate Bush and Taylor Momsen.

If you're a fan of female fronted angsty pop/grunge rock then you'll love Avenge Vulture Attack.
