Pop-rock
A hefty dose of generic pop-rock from There For Tomorrow, 12 mainstream sounding radio friendly soft rock tunes with a pop core; the band shoots for anthemic choruses and achieves this with a slick, sugary coating to top it all off.
Vocally an American twang rounds off this clean croon (it wouldn't be out of place on a straightforward pop record), which is pretty strong and carries the tunes well, but doesn't knock you out with its individuality. The tracks are all punchy and soaked in melody but feel ultimately quite sterile, like a cake missing the filling, they're sweet and great on the outside but the lack of depth emotionally and lyrically leaves you feeling a little hollow and disappointed.
A couple of the tunes here try for something more rocky and make for the best tracks on the album by far, 'Get It' is one such track, vocally this one is tons better (unfortunately, lyrically we're still in angsty mope mode though) , a slightly more raw finish and the guitars are pushed forward more in the mix making for a richer and more interesting sound- they should definitely be pushing more towards this end of the spectrum as for the most part the pop infused numbers tend to blend together quite quickly. If they can retain the anthemic feel but add something more urgent and gritty to the mix they could be on to something but as it stands this record just misses the mark.
