The Blackout - The Storm

After already being amazed as to what the year has had to offer, playing festivals near and far and releasing their new album "Hope", Welsh wonders The Blackout return with their new single 'The Storm', released via Cooking Vinyl.

'The Storm' is the third single from the bands third album, the concluding track, and what a way to conclude. It is different to the bands previous material, less crash-bang-wallop anger and aggression and more organised and melodiously arranged. The subject matter of the song, needing a person and never wanting to hurt or lose them, makes for one of the darkest yet most honest songs the band has ever written. It is wonderful to hear Sean Smith, one half of the vocal duo alongside Gavin Butler, sing rather than belt out lyrics. The two usually make the most mind-boggling racket when they perform, but here things are a little more reserved, which is a great balance. The Blackout started the year with a bang and they intend to go out the same way as they embark on a headline tour later in the year.
