Senser - Biting Rhymes
Senser are renowned for genre moulding, so as a prequel to their upcoming album they release "Biting Rhymes" - a compilation of Hip-Hop covers.
"Biting Rhymes" takes me back to me youth, before I found my way with rock music I went through a long infatuation with hip-hop and rap. Covering legends like Public Enemy, LL Cool J, and The Beastie Boys; Senser pay homage to the music that inspired their rap-rock-metal sound.
"Biting Rhymes" opens with a cover of Public Enemies 'Don't Believe The Hype', although Senser have beefed the song up a bit, they haven't strayed too far from the track's original sound. The addition of a deep, stalking bassline is present throughout the track, makes it a bit heavier and instantly identifiable with Senser.
There's enough in this EP to appeal to both Hip-Hop and rock fans, it should definitely be given a listen before fans of either genre write it off. It's a great insight into the music that inspired Senser, which is bound to send their fans hunger for the new album into overdrive.
