My Tiny Robots - 'Guild of Defiants' single

'Guild of Defiants' is the new single release from Edinburgh band My Tiny Robots, and what a solid single it is. They have been labelled 'odd pop' in the past, but there is nothing odd about 'Guild' - it sticks to the traditional indie formula and executes it very competently.

The jangling, well-constructed backing track holds a lovely pace: not so slow that you'd lose attention, but not overly fast or heavy either; it retains a fantastically controlled pace that makes the track very easy on the ear. The vocals are also well done here, the production achieving a very clear sound in the mix, with a chorus that is deceptively simple, but incredibly catchy and likely to remain in your head for a fair while after hearing it. Whilst not doing anything that messes with the pop formula, and certainly not pandering to the title of 'odd pop', My Tiny Robots have produced a very accessible, good track that is instantly likeable from the first listen.
