People On Vacation - The Carry On EP
People On Vacation is the pairing of Bowling For Soup's Jaret Reddick and Smile Smile's Ryan Hamilton. The two Texans started recording together a couple of years ago, and now they release their debut EP The Carry On EP.
People On Vacation's music is the perfect mix of Bowling For Soup's pop-punk riffs and Smile Smile's indie-folk. Hamilton's subdued and refined voice really complements Reddick's pop-punk vocal styling, and it seems they both had an equal influence on POV's musical direction.
The EP opens with Better Off Dead which is the perfect song to showcase exactly what People On Vacation do. The dynamic duos vocals are beautifully balanced and the song is home to some great guitar work.
Looking For Love is extremely catchy, almost annoyingly so. Hours after listening to the The Carry On EP, that song was still firmly lodged in my head. Looking For Love and Where Do We Go are the mellowest songs on this six track release, but both are perfectly performed musically and vocally.
The Carry On EP is a sublime release, and I am looking forward to hearing these tracks performed live in London next month. People On Vacation's indie-rock hybrid is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser.
