Black Dice - Mr. Impossible
Black Dice have been around for over fifteen years and are releasing their sixth album Mr. Impossible.
I'm sure there are a lot of people who are excited about the release of Black Dice's new record, I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't get the music Black Dice produce; I fall in with the latter. It all just sounds like noise to me.
Opening track Pinball Wizard sounds like a wall of garbled electronica, I struggle to find any kind of structure to the track; it just sounds like random sounds thrown together to create a big ugly mess.
The Jacker and Spy Vs. Spy are bearable in parts, there are certain moments where the tracks sound like they have some body, direction and tunefulness. But, on the whole I find this album to be a very uncomfortable listen that leaves me wondering if I have any Panadol in my house.
After listening to Mr. Impossible I can't comprehend how New York based trio of Eric Copeland, Bjorn Copeland and Aaron Warren have been around for over fifteen years, this is one of the worst albums I have heard in a very long time. To me, there is no artistic talent behind these electro contortions. I guess Black Dice are the Marmite of the music industry; you either love them or you hate them.
