Canterbury - Heavy in the Day
Canterbury began back in 2005 when five musical adoring individuals came together to form a band. After four years of hard work, they released their debut album Thank You as a free download. Over the last three years, the band has seen the departure of a band member, been playing gigs across the country and preparing for their sophomore release.
Their second album Heavy In The Day, features plenty of brand new tracks as well as a few fan favourites that have been released. The album kicks straight in with the title track, a slow moving yet breath-taking song that builds brilliantly and explodes full power; Mike's strong vocals soaring through the verses are just the icing on the cake. The level of power and effort continues, demonstrating not only Mike's ability to belt out lyrics at the top of his lungs but Luke's gentle vocal touch and the almighty musical capability of four ambitious musicians.
Singles such as More Than Know, Calm Down, Ready Yet, Saviour and Gloria are always going to be the ones that will get the crowd screaming when performed live. These tracks instantly blow your mind with the tougher sound, hard hitting guitar rhythms and powerful vocals. Each shows off the bands ability to knock out an epic sound. She's A Flame establishes a calmer side to Canterbury. Luke's delicate vocals really shine and as the song concludes it becomes quite impressive. Likewise, Seen It All is simply beautiful, calm and tranquil with an epic conclusion to not only the song, but yet another masterpiece from Canterbury.
It is obvious these lads have grown up a great deal since the release of Thank You and this can be heard through their lyrics and music. Canterbury is a band that takes pride in the fact there is no one and nothing standing between them and their musical creations and by the sounds of this release, the hands on approach really suits Canterbury.
