The Dollyrots - The Dollyrots

The Dollyrots are due to return to the UK in October after a two year absence, but before that they release their fourth studio album The Dollyrots.

The self titled album from the LA based duo is a sugary slice of pop rock, it is easy to fall into the trap of comparing female fronted bands with other female fronted bands, but, The Dollyrots really do have the pop sensibilities of Paramore and the aggressive undertones of No Doubt.

The Dollyrots are made up of Kelly Ogden and Luis Cabezas, the duo have an incredibly large sound for a two piece, and you could easily mistake them for being a full band. Satellite is a great song, and one that could have easily been lifted from Paramore's back catalogue. It offers a heavy dose of teen angst with a pop punk edge.

Hyperactive takes a tongue in cheek look at emo stereotypes, it is inoffensive and fun. Instantly grabbing your attention, it is the type of song that makes it impossible to sit still and has you singing along by the time the second chorus hits. No doubt this will become a fan favourite.

Closing track Starting Over Again is the standout track on the album, it is a perfect little piece of three chord punk which really shows off Ogden's vocal talents and the guitar skills of Cabezas. It is a perfect closing number, and one that gets stuck in your head.

The Dollyrots is full of catchy hooks and clever lyrics which will no doubt have fans singing and dancing along when The Dollyrots tour with Bowling For Soup and Patent Pending in October.
