Grey Goose Blues Band - No money in my pocket E.P.

No Money in My Pocket is the new E.P. from the Grey Goose Blues Band, released September 10th. They played several blues festivals last year, were voted the best newcomers by British Blues Matters magazine and nominated in the British Blues awards 2012 in the best song category. But personally, I really can't see why, the vocals are flat and unexciting, Theres little of substance on this E.P. other than the re-hashed sounds of classic artists.

The title track no money in my pocket reminds me far too much of the blues brothers with none of the excitement or panache, the brass playing is dull and repetitive throughout and theres only a hint of bluesy flair in the guitar. The second track, That Mudslide sounds like the singers attempting to impersonate a more gravelly and rougher tone for the song and failing miserably as his voice audibly cracks. The other two tracks on the E.P. Beat the Devil out of me and Pickin' at the bones also provide little more than stereotypical familiar and slightly dull blues. If you're a big fan of slower, mainstream blues then this band might be for you, but with nothing exciting to offer in any respect and producing nothing we haven't heard before, I'm afraid I just wasn't impressed.
