A Solid First
It's a slew of firsts from Manchester indie-rock trio, City Reign as they release their first single, Ahead Of Ideas taken from their debut album, Another Step and as far as firsts go, City Reign aren't doing too bad a job. With more than a heavy nod towards The Smiths and with vocals that sound just as despondent and down beat as Morrissey on a particularly depressed day, Ahead Of Ideas is shoe gazing melancholy for the next generation. Never in a rush to off load a barrage of riffs and a melodic rush of beats, Ahead Of Ideas takes its time, steadily seeping through your ear drums until an eruption of harmonies add the final touch to the atmospheric feel of the track, even managing to inject a feel good vibe and touch of optimism that will have you wanting to find out a little more about the Manchester trio.
