Same old, same old.

You might find this hard to believe, but this is Drowning Pool's fifth album. But surely if they're five albums in there must be some signs of progression, some variation? Not exactly. Resilience is another very average release from this band. To be honest though, you're probably kidding yourself if you expected much different. This is a band that hit great heights in the follow up to the Sinner LP in 2001, but these are different times, sadly a lot of the material on Resilience as well as just being average Metal tracks, just feel irrelevant in today's set up. For a start the album is just too long. Fifteen tracks showcasing heavy riffs and harsh vocals galore, but all in the same way. The only real track that felt different is the first single off the album, Saturday Night but even this is just a confusing change of pace. The best way to describe this tune is its Drowning Pool does eighties Metal, yeah like I said, confusing right?

Elsewhere, One Finger And A Fist will just make you cringe, and everything else will end up boring you. It's not awful, it's just so standard. Nothing will really strike you as exciting. Fans will no doubt enjoy it, but 2013 just has so many better albums on offer.
