The Jokers - Rock 'N' Roll Is Alive
The band seem to have been a bit quiet since the release of their debut album back in 2009, but Rock 'N' Roll Is Alive has reportedly been two years in the making.
Frontman Wane Perry is very charismatic, his vocal style is reminiscent of Marc Bolan, and he really lifts the music that the rest of the band are created and draws the listener into the songs.
Rock 'N' Roll Is Alive has a great eighties feel to it, and the influences from the likes of Aerosmith are obvious, but in a good way. The vocals are expressive throughout and Perry proves himself to have a great vocal range.
Musically it is upbeat and full of groovy basslines, beautiful guitar riffs and clever drumming. The Liverpudlian four-piece ooze musical ability and have created an album that is a lot of fun to listen to.
Radio and the title track are the perfect crossover songs, and could easily lead to The Jokers getting some radio airtime; as could Dr Rock Head. This album has been perfectly put together and produced, every song sounds great with the various layers of music being very clear to the ear.
This a fab sophomore album which makes me want to hear more of The Jokers material and catch them in a live setting.
