White Clouds & Gunfire - For All The Non Believers

Peterborough quintet White Clouds & Gunfire plan their national take over with the release of their debut album For All The Non Believers.

The young punk popsters have been around for roughly four years, but their line-up wasn't solid until the end of 2011. The band received a lot of praise for their EP; Hero To Zero and have gained themselves support slots with the likes of Army Of Freshmen, MC Lars and Sonic Boom Six.

For All The Non Believers is packed full of sugary sweet punk pop songs that come complete with catchy choruses and clever riffs. Front woman Eveline Verdegaal's feminine vocals add an interesting and somewhat vulnerable edge to White Clouds & Gunfire's songs.

All the tracks are well performed and produced, and will no doubt have mass appeal to a young female audience, but there is nothing overly memorable about this eight-track release. From listening, I am not able to pick out a song that would make an obvious lead single although they are all of a good standard, they seem the x factor, for lack of a better phrase.

Overall, this isn't a bad debut effort; the songs are easily accessible and will undoubtedly go over well in a live setting, but it is all a little too samey for my liking. White Clouds & Gunfire have clearly found a sound that works for them, but they appear to lack the confidence to experiment, which is a shame as they have plenty of potential.
