It's Alive
Australian pop-punkers, Tonight Alive, have experienced one hell of a cool ride over the last year or two. On the back of their impressive debut album What Are You Scared Of? they have been catapulted into the limelight, playing gigs around the world and not just any gigs, we are talking the Vans Warped Tour in America as well as shows like the Kerrang! Tour earlier this year in venues a bit closer to home. But now comes that moment of having to release that dreaded second album that sees so many bands fall over and start the slow descent back to mediocrity
Well, thankfully that is not the case with Tonight Alive. Maybe helped that they did not rush out a second album while popularity was high. It has taken two years since the release of What Are You Scared Of? for the follow up The Other Side to see the light of day. Maybe a little bit of credit should be given to Sony for not forcing it out quicker and it is not often I praise record labels!
However, a lot of praise should be dealt to the five piece. They have put together 12 entertaining pop punk tracks that will see plenty of bouncing and fist pumping at the live shows. Jenna McDougall's vocals combine aggressive and sensual styles, each moment a track is angsty or emotional you can feel it in the vocals perfectly. Backed up seamlessly by the band it leads to 12 highly enjoyable tracks, which means it all leads one of those rare breeds in the modern era - one with no weak tracks on the entire album.
If you want to check out Tonight Alive, which obviously you do, then this is your lucky day - they are starting a 10 date tour of UK and Ireland on the 29th September, for full tour details click HERE.
