We Are Harlot - We Are Harlot

What do you get when you take vocalist Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria), guitarist Jeff George (Sebastian Bach), bassist Brian Weaver (Silvertide) and drummer Bruno Agra (Revolution Renaissance) and throw them in a recording studio together…the answer is We Are Harlot and their excellent debut self-titled album.

The album was created to be simply rock and roll, with Aerosmith and Van Halen often heard as their main inspirations - from the minute the album opens loud and proud with Dancing On Nails, this is instantly heard. This is the perfect track to instantly grab your attention, pulsate through your bones and not let up until the album comes to a close. There is an 80's rock and roll vibe present that keeps the album upbeat and driven by high-energy with lots of enthusiasm. The guitar solos by Jeff George are well defined and stand out. Additional elements such as piano and keys just make the tunes even more pleasing to the ear (The One).

One More Night is particularly notable for an edgier feeling that the other tunes don’t possess; vocals are gruffer at times and the music much faster paced and sharper. Then there are some slightly mellower tunes such as Someday and the closing track I Tried where the rock and roll vibe remains just with a pace that’s a tad slower and much more emotive; the latter is particularly notable.

Vocals from Danny Worsnop are mostly melodic but also rather raspy, which really adds to the classic rock and roll feel. There are some growls from time to time (Denial) from his hardcore side, but it’s the rock vocals that shine through, particularly where the choruses become much more sing-a-long friendly (Easier To Leave).

We Are Harlot are all set for a summer of fun with various festivals lined up including their first UK live appearance at Download Festival.
