Trust or fallout?
The Fallout Trust comprise of six members from either Newcastle or Bristol who re-located to a warehouse in East London and enlisted the help of Richard Rainey (U2) to get busy at the mixing desk. They released two EPs last year and toured extensively around the UK with YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO.
'When We Are Gone' starts with a strong industrial beat reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails, or Marilyn Manson, however this is where the similarity ends. Joe Winter's vocals sound like Thom from Radiohead, and in some respects the gentle, but complicated song structure, which boasts keyboards and violins, could also be from the said band. Added to the mixing pot are harmonies straight from the seventies, in a time when they added to a song and didn't distract you.
The single isn't instantly memorable, but is definitely a song that gets better with each listen. The Fallout Trust have been described as playing, '...intelligent pop delivered in an exciting fresh way...' which is a fair assessment.
The Fallout Trust are about to embark on another tour with The Caesers, and debut album 'In Case Of The Flood' is very close to being released through At Large Recordings. In a mish-mash genre that has recently seen many bands standing up and demanding to be taken notice, The Fallout Trust do have a different take on things - but is it enough?
