Melodic punk rock

'Believe There's Nothing' begins with blatant punk vocals sneering over a remarkably smooth and melodic tune, alien to the brash quality of punk. Angelic backing vocals from drummer Cerys give the tune a lighter element, melding the rock guitars and searching lyrics, "there's nothing wrong with me", in graceful ascent. A smooth and catchy melodic guitar introduces us to the infectious and very skilfully produced sound of Along Came Man. Their sound mirrors the sweet, and popular rock-heartbreak of bands like Funeral For A Friend.

'This Is My Game' has a more traditional pop-rock sound through its energetic verse. The same melodic chords ring out in the powerful instrumental as in 'Believe There's Nothing', but it doesn't draw from the same well of sincerity as the former stunning tune.

'Hurts To Be You' follows with intense energy and tight guitar hooks in plenty beneath soaring, almost emo vocals. "My collar feels so tight as I try to get it right", the lyrics are simple but intelligent and connect the listener instantly.

'Commodore 64' is full of tension and dramatic dynamics. Its subject is personal, which makes it all the more direct and honest, "Me and Neil (Potts) broke windows till late". The guitars ring out in empathy beneath the brief but powerful chorus. It's a smart and concise tale of childhood dreams.

'Dream What You Think' is a heartwarming acoustic number with emotional piano backing. It's a return to the amazing form of 'Believe There's Nothing', the raw vocals are picked up by the soft, rippling guitars transmitting tenderness.

Along Came Man are full of promise; their songs are varied, but still memorable and catchy. They've already picked up on acclaim from The Pop Factory and Xpress Radio from the homeland Wales, and they're certain to follow in a long line of Welsh wonders.
