Amy Winehouse - Pumps
I remember the times when a single was labelled 'Parental Guidance' due to explict content it would be guaranteed a number one! It is easy with 'Pumps' to see why Amy Winehouse's current album was nominated for the Mercury Prize.
Pumps is a song where all Amy's musical influences shine through; jazz, RnB and folk. A good strong song for people who love a slower more relaxed beat, not too heavy, with good a instrumental arrangment. It is Amy's voice that takes centre stage on this single, and she should be proud of what is a very melodic tune.
'Help Yourself' is a great song, similar to 'Pumps', with a hint of the blues shining through. 'No Greater Love' was recorded as an AOL session as part of their music online stream. 'No Greater Love' has a fantastic acoustic guitar sound. Personally my favourite track on the single!
