Electronic experiments

Both the Multiplies, and their Scottish label Hatch are brand new on the scene; a lot is riding on this energetic young band. 'Skeletron' is a collision of wild synth rock and sexy punk spoken word honesty all rapped up in frenetic percussion and guitars, it's certainly not a conventional song; it passes through so many different stages and sounds that I was expecting it to be a prog-rock odyssey length number, but actually it wraps up neatly after 3 minutes. The tune itself is a little hard to keep up with as there are so many twists and turns and it seems to abandon the usual verse-chorus-verse structure and zip into something futuristic and experimental. All respect to them for creativity but clearer structure or lyrics that were more audible could make it more cohesive for the casual listener. I can, however, see it as a big club tune dropping easily danceable beats.

The second tune 'Walk To Yourself', is a buzzy little synth number that dances along full of vigour and pacey electronica. Multiplies are typical of Glasgow's burgeoning robotic electronica sound that hails from 'Stereo-Mono', a club popularised greatly by Franz Ferdinand.
