Slick, frenetic rhythms
The Dead 60s are Merseyside social militants giving a funky tune that combines the edgy guitar sounds of bands like Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs with an infectious ska rhythm. It has one of the most solid and driving hooks to grace 2005 and with singer Matt McManamon's frenetic, yelping vocals, the tune is really set alight. You might expect a little punk from the title 'Riot Radio' but The Dead 60s are too tight and have too much of a mellow groove to be the anarchic teens you're looking for, but they mutate the same dissatisfied feeling into a slick, forceful tune.
Support slots with The Stereophonics, The Bravery and a slot at the infamous Lollapalooza have already flooded in, proving The Dead 60s have certainly caught the interest of some people in high places. A tune like 'Riot Radio' is sure to continue their wave of success, with its lithe, get-up-and-dance energy that really gets under your skin.
