Entrails From Gutter

Whilst the hardcore scenes of New York and Orange County California get the most publicity with the steady stream of bands reaching the media, it is hard not to forget about the more underground bands like the Holy Mountain.

The Holy Mountain's latest album on No Idea Records 'Entrails' is a scathing release with socio-political lyrics being constant throughout the album. With songs like 'The Lines Are Drawn' and 'America', it is pretty obvious that these musicians like so many others have got some beef with the current administration in The White House and have come up with the gravy to smother it.

Vocalist Dan Ponch from Combatwoundedveteran sounds like a man possessed with hardcore fury. With over the top leads and tight tempos from new drummer Greg, The Holy Mountain have a sound that tears a new backside in hardcore music. The material follows the hardcore format to the letter with shout along vocals and three minute blasts of demented fury.

Despite the hardcore ethos of the band, The Holy Mountain has a sound more in common with Portland's Poison Idea than a band like Agnostic Front as the Holy Mountain has a more sludgy sound and much more bite to the lyrics.

It is uncomfortable, unabashed and unashamed hardcore with some damn catchy tunes.
