Vessel For Something More
The Lucky Nine have an envious line-up that allows them to draw from a wide range of sub-genres. Where does 'Vessel and Vine' sit on the alternative rainbow? There are the kind of crashing riffs that are launched into with the kind of vigor seen in A's music, anthemic vocals, all combined and shaped to become one glorious, curvaceous song pattern that stuns. This is the kind of fist pumping song that will hound regulars at rock clubs for months to come.
As if this display of what rock should really be like wasn't enough, 'Sweet Dreams, Lilac' shows another side to The Lucky Nine. This band really are lucky, having been blessed with the ability to know exactly when their upbeat choruses should kick in and overtake the unmistakeable vocal skills of Colin Doran. Whereas some frontmen create below-average side projects and call them bands, Doran has alongside other innovative names in rock, created something that is a band entirely in its own right.
