Starsailor - In The Crossfire
Starsailor return this autumn with a single that, if the dictionary were to feature such things, would be an Oxford English definition of a Starsailor hit record. It is both catchy and powerful and has the anthemic quality to make it one of their greats. It is certainly in the same league as the classics ‘Alcoholic’ and ‘Silence is Easy’, when a band of the current stature of this lot release a new single, mainstream music radio takes notice. This track will be a regular fixture on the UK’s airwaves for the next couple of months and rightly so. Also expect this to be a corner stone of future live shows and could be a festival anthem in 2006.
‘In The Cross Fire’ is the first track to be taken from the bands third album ‘On the Outside’, which is set to be one of the major releases of this autumn. Although the first single is nothing you wouldn’t expect from this band, in this case familiarity is what makes it so strong. The new album is said to be a more focused piece of work, less of the introspective stuff and more aware of the world they find themselves in. That said, regardless of what the lyrics concentrate on, if there is more where ‘In The Crossfire’ came from, it should certainly be a classic.
