The 80s Have Never Felt So 2005
You gotta admit they're good. Saw them supporting The Prodigy and they put in a good performance no doubt about it. Why, they could peddle in a whole 'new' revival scene to kill off this whole sort of minimalist 60's garage band revival thing that the scenesters are all proud to hold onto, but really; it worked in the 60s and sounds naf now. Bring back the 80s, you know it's right! Even Justin Hawkins from the 70's glam-bam retro-ites has done of cover of Sparks' classic 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us.' And why not? So many 80's bands have come up again from a long time away, from Duran Duran to The Cure and with The Killers and The Kaiser Chiefs now... Oh, I suppose it's already here.
But Clor, Clor have tapped into the essence of what made a great tune great in that era, it's the boomp boomp robotic beat, clockwork guitaristry and a funny voice, throw in some cool suits, maybe a moustache and you're there and they are there. 'Good Stuff' is top stuff and top stuff is good enough. Well, it's a great chirpy little number, not quite the earlier 'Outlines' but a perfectly worthy follow-up single. They're a band that's happening at the moment, they've energy and they've eminent style and they're recommended... End of story.
