Mean Hooks & Punk Looks
GetAmped burst out of your stereo with punk infused melodic tunes that twist and turn proficiently between catchy rhythms, without slipping into the generic territory.
'Reject and Sterile' begins with a haunting tune that sets up the squealing guitars perfectly before they collide into a chugging pace below vocalist Tim's brisk lyrics. The one thing that's particularly special about this track is that, although they could at any time, the band doesn't endorse any nu metal yelling, shrieking or anything other than powerful, sharp vocals.
'Postcards From Hell' begins with a very similar hook, but melds in some more echoing pauses where the vocals are used to best effect over the damped down guitars, before they unleash into a driving slice of killer poppy punk rock. There's also some seriously wicked guitar work that confirms their artistic integrity and musicianship, although smart, well played punk may seem a little like a contradiction.
No, GetAmped aren't the most unique band you've ever heard, but they do avoid all the pitfalls of similar bands and create some mean tunes. The tracks practically writhe and leap with funky hooks that could surely set off most audiences in a wild frenzy and with an album out very soon, they could make very big things of themselves.
