Enviers never prosper

I think someone's been at the Muse again; there's certainly quite an undeniable influence on the sound of 'Envy & Other Sins' from the aforementioned band, in the vocal harmonies, the ploinky bass and most of all the arpeggio-ed synth wipe coming in on the second verse. But that aside, their not that bad an imitation band... Ok, maybe that's not wholly fair.

'Prodigal Son' is quite a flighty little piece, it does the trick, fills the gap, occupies a few minutes in quite good style, but it lacks the bravado of Muse, or the real-ness and the edge that make their contemporaries so much better. It can only get a comparison to those arrogant swine known as Razorlight or that stale lump of shite Hard-Fi, both of which they've provided support to. No, maybe it's not totally fair to stoop so low. They're OK, they come across in their sound as overrating themselves, but there's something there at least, I expect a substantial enough portion of young people will flirt with it for them to get a little recognition before disappearing off to whence they came. No, not at all, not bad, not bad...
