Electro-tomfoolery on DVD.

A short but sweet DVD from Trabant is sure to find favour with their fans, and highlights the extravagant nature of the band.

Comprising of just four video tracks, a picture montage and a short bio of the band, its not a DVD bursting at the seams with features and extras but for a band of this size, it's a decent introduction and will be a vital keepsake for their fans.

The key element of the videos are two live tracks and as Trabant seem to be a highly visual and creative act, it makes perfect sense they should want to utilise these areas and showcase their fun. If you are going to have a DJ doing his set with a lit firework in his mouth, it would be an outrage not to show that to the masses. The two live songs cover this madness and all manner of champagne popping, crowd surfing, sweaty sleazy fun that their live set seems to entail.

The sound quality of the live tracks is fairly good, particularly the drums and vocals but the footage is slightly hazy, which does capture the feel of the evening.

The other two video sections focus on current single 'Maria', taking footage from a television performance and from a museum opening. Theres maybe no great need to have this song twice but the setting were quite different from the norm and add something else to the DVD.

As for the songs themselves, if you can picture a campier version of the Hives with a stronger electro feel and then you are almost there. For bands with a creative vision about them it can be difficult to merge this with the songs and Trabant nearly get there, but not quite.

The pictures are a nice bonus, further summing up the tawdry elements of the band and is soundtracked by a calmer track by the act.

All in all, it's a small but fairly well formed DVD for fans, old and new, to enjoy.
