Refreshingly Original, Witty Indie Punk
Cherubs debut single is refreshingly original, yet it doesn’t allow time for reflection on this fact, carrying you along with the buoyant punk rhythm and electric lyrics. Having toured with the Libertines, Cherubs can expect a very bright future with big names already giving them radio time.
The single “Hey Bunny”, is witty with a catchy chorus; “And he said Bang Bang the sound from her gun”, and unique rich vocals from singer Espen Dahl. The unusual name coming from the fact half of the band are Norwegian, another reason this band are so special and set for fame in a booming British indie punk scene. Percussion is snappy and tight, guitars are frothing and compelling, vocals are edgy and cutting, “Hey Bunny” has a contagious rhythm that spreads through your whole body.
B-side “Nine Stars Out of Ten”, is groovy and soulful with jangly guitars and breakneck speed lyrics. It’s a whirlwind of impelling bubbly punk rock with more pace than “Hey Bunny”, proving Cherubs’ forthcoming album should be an interesting listen. Having already gathered together fans so dedicated that they paid for the band’s first demos; and a famous producer, in the form of Howard Gray, Cherubs really are in a perfect position to join tour buddies The Libertines in chart domination.
