A Colourful Return

He's done well for himself has Richard Ashcroft since disembarking from The Verve, following 'Alone With Everybody' and 2002's 'Human Conditions' comes the single 'Break The Night With Colour' to be released on January 9th next year. And it's quite different from the norm, it's relaxed and contains what seems like an altered attitude towards musical style.

Of course it's still Richard Ashcroft, with his unparalleled voice streaming unmistakably across this down-tempo number, but it doesn't come across as being as agitated as usual and that's quite a nice respite when thinking about it. He lengthens some vocal notes more so than is regular in his music and adds a lot of vibrato too, creating a quite encompassing and wholesome effect. The chorus with its poppy harmony is a great example of what Richard Ashcroft is capable of, the prowess of this man takes no prisoners. It's certainly worth checking out 'Break The Night With Colour,' so do so when you get the chance.
