A Welcome Return From Life Of Agony.

When bands reform after splitting up in acrimonious circumstances, reunion shows and albums can sometimes be viewed in a slightly cynical light.

With this in mind, the new single by Life of Agony, 'Love To Let You Down' is quite a pleasant surprise. Wasting little time in the intro and getting straight to a driving riff, the initial vocal of "Willing to start again" may be about the band, or it may not, but it indicates a return to something and a new attitude, and it comes across very well on this track.

It's a fresh, vibrant, quick blast of rock which is likely to receive repeated listens as the melody soars and will have most listeners singing along in no time. The backing vocals have that Chris Cornell quality to them and the drumming acts as a lead instrument peppering in and out of the track.

The standard guitar freak-out near the end is slightly reined in but it adds to the compactness of the song and it doesn't overstay its welcome.

It's a very good song and if it is representative of the album, then this may be one band reformation that might just be about the music, and not about the cash.
