Another important announcement?
Someone has definitely been tampering with the water supply in Yorkshire if the current excellent crop of bands emerging from Leeds is anything to go by. Proving that the D.I.Y. spirit is still alive and kicking (and not just centred around Dance To The Radio) this latest self-funded four track E.P. from the oddly named The Printed Sound should have A&R men queuing around the block with cheque books poised at the ready.
Opener "The Announcement" takes The Killers' finest moments, strips them of their polished production gloss and adds guitars that are so sharp they should come with a government health warning. Even better is the edgy "Ariel" which features the kind of anthemic chorus most new bands would give their right arm for. Following a year in which the new wave of post-punk poster boys came to chart prominence, expect to be hearing from these boys a lot more in 2006.
